Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Chess Rating Tracker you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Services on behalf of a club, academy or other organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not access or use the Services. We may modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Services following a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Services Description

Chess Rating Tracker collects publicly available profile, rating, puzzle and activity data for chess accounts on Lichess and Chess.com, stores that data as a time series, and presents it through a web dashboard and mobile applications. The Services include periodic automated polling of public platform APIs, historical charting, comparison and leaderboard tools, and data export. We are an independent service and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Lichess or Chess.com.

User Accounts

To use the Services you must sign in with a supported identity provider. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the account you sign in with and for all activity that occurs under it. Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account or any other security breach.

Tracked Players and Limits

Each user may track up to 100 Lichess accounts and up to 100 Chess.com accounts unless a higher limit has been agreed in writing. Tracked accounts are stored once globally and shared across all users who track them, so adding a player creates a subscription for you rather than a private copy of their data. Removing a player removes only your subscription; the underlying account record and its collected history remain available to other users.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes. You shall not: (a) use the Services to harass, stalk or target any individual; (b) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Services; (c) scrape, automate or otherwise extract data from the Services at a rate that degrades them for other users; (d) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble any part of the Services; (e) transmit viruses or harmful code; or (f) use the Services in any way that would cause us to breach the terms of service of Lichess or Chess.com.

Third-Party Data

All chess account data presented by the Services originates from the public APIs of Lichess and Chess.com and remains subject to those platforms' own terms. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of that data. Upstream availability, rate limits, account renames, closures and API changes are outside our control and may cause gaps or delays in a player's history.

Intellectual Property

The Chess Rating Tracker platform, including its software, designs, text, graphics, interfaces and underlying technology, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your use of the Services grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access them. Data sourced from third-party chess platforms remains the property of those platforms and their users.

Data and Privacy

We store the account identity supplied by your sign-in provider, the list of chess accounts you track, and any aliases and notes you add to them. We apply access controls and encryption in transit and at rest. How we handle personal data is described in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Services. The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access where these Terms are breached, where continued use would jeopardise our standing with an upstream platform, or where required by law. On deletion of your account, your tracked-player subscriptions, aliases and notes are removed; globally shared account records and their historical snapshots are retained.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Jamaica, and any dispute arising out of them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jamaica. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.
